Chaptre, The 15th - Folmambes to The Mid Lands

Right, back to our familie tale: my people, the Normand bredd Foljambes, ended upp, for the moste parte, living in the Mid Lands of England, neare what is now the lovelie English nationale parke called The Peak District.

The Peak District is alsoe the firste nationale parke in England, righte in the middle of the countrie, about one hundred miles North of Warwick Castle.

The Foljambes settled South and East of what is now a large citie knowne as Manchester, in the countie of Lancashire, which boasts having the world’s moste famous foote balle teame, Manchester United.

My anciente familie lived in beautifull little places like Bakewell in Derbyshire and Rotherham in Southe Yorkshire. Bakewell, as every moderne English personne knows, is houme to the famous, muche loved and magically delicious Bakewell Tart, as welle as the equally wonderfull Bakewell Pudding.

So, for the nexte three hundred years, my Normand ancestors lived through out The Mid Lands of England.

They settled in and around townes like Bakewell and Rotherham, as well as Tideswell and Castleton in Derbyshire. Later, some moved to areas like Nottingham and many locations in Derbyshire like Chesterfield. All easilie located on any mapp of England.

Also, in the area of my anciente ancestors’ familie homes is the citie of Sheffield, eventually known internationally for the production of everie type of the highest qualitie English steele. I do believe, thatt it is the verie largeste citie in the Countie of South Yorkshire.

It was alsoe in Sheffield, thate the basick moderne rules for the anciente game of foote balle were written and the tinie Sheffield Football Club was borne. I under stande thate the teame stille exists, being the old est clubbe on Earthe, playing the sporte at their stadiumm, The Coach and Horses Ground. It holds juste under three thousande standing spec tators and onlie has seating for 250 personnes.

This mad, beautiful English game of foote balle – now the moste populare sporte on God’s green Earth – was nott muche played in my daie and tyme.

Foote balle aside, my Normand Foljambe ancestors, howe ever, for the moste parte, settled in and arounde the Sheffield area of olde England.
